Rules for Covid-19


To guarantee a safe environment during the conference, the following measures are applied:

  1. HES-code is required by all delegates.

  2. Temperature checks at the school gates as well as a temperature check in the afternoon.

  3. Our school uses ventilation breaks in a regular school time and we will carry on with this policy as it has proved to be helpful in keeping the rooms well-ventilated. Due to this reason, you can see in the schedule sessions broken down into smaller 35 or 40-minute periods with 5-minute ventilation breaks in between.

  4. We will have small committees with 15 to 17 delegates not to have crowded classrooms.

  5. We will strongly advise all delegates to follow social distancing rules.

  6. Use of hand sanitizers is encouraged.


Masks are required at all times.


Code of Conduct

The Code of Conduct


At Istanbul International School MUN, our intention is to create a professional discussion of the issues at hand in a safe and respectful environment.

Professionalism in speech, actions, and appearance by all participants (delegates, head delegates, faculty, delegation leaders, guests, secretariat, staff, and board members) is a requirement of all MUN conferences. The guideline is provided to help establish a clear understanding of the expectations and policies applied at IIS MUN.


All participants are expected to behave in a respectful manner at IIS MUN.


  1. Harassment and discrimination, including but not limited to gender, race, religion, age, disability, nationality, and sexual orientation, are strictly prohibited and will not be tolerated at IIS MUN. Delegates and delegations are expected to treat all participating members and staff of the conference with due respect.

  2. Participants found to be in possession or engaging in activity including the possession of restricted items, harmful substances, prohibited items, illicit or any other item obtained or perceived for the purpose of violence or ill-intent may be barred from participation at IIS MUN without refund and may be held criminally liable.

  3. Delegates found to be disruptive or disrespectful towards other delegates, staff members during the committee sessions may be barred from participation at IIS MUN without a refund at the discretion of the facility staff the Secretary-General, or any designated official.


If any participant is believed to have engaged in any behavioural incidents, the Secretary-General and/or any designated official reserves the right to evaluate the behaviour and nature of the situation and take the appropriate remedial action which may include, but is not limited to:

  • Suspending and barring the delegate or delegation from participation at IIS MUN;

  • The official warning stated on the delegate’s badge;

  • Verbal reprimand;

  • No action taken;

  • Any other actions deemed appropriate.


We believe that we will not need to use the most severe measures. If a delegate breaks the Code of Conduct in a minor fashion that needs to be recorded, the Secretary-General and/or any designated official will punch the delegate’s badge. The delegates who accumulate 3 warnings on their badge will be barred from participating in the conference.

We will apply this measure in the following cases:

  • Inappropriate outfit;

  • Repeated use of a language other than English;

  • Preventing the committee from productive work;

  • Plagiarism

Attendance policy

All delegates are expected to attend all sessions of the conference to receive a certificate of participation.

A delegate may miss a maximum of one session under the condition that there is a valid reason, the STOFF of the committee are informed beforehand by the advisor (informing about the absence after the roll call is considered to be too late for being marked excused). Individual delegates must inform the chair directly.

In case the delegate misses more than one session or one session without an excuse, IIS MUN reserves the right to withhold the certificate for the given delegate.


All delegates must be in the committee room on time. Delegates who arrive after the specified time (regardless of the position of their country in the alphabetical order at the roll call) will be marked late. Delegates who arrive at the session late twice will receive a warning.


Language policy

Istanbul International School uses an English-only language policy. We value the cultural heritage and background of each participant, but to secure a safe and open environment we insist on using the English language throughout the conference, including both sessions and break times.

Due to this fact, we require all delegates to have at least a B2 level of English proficiency as no translation or time for it would be available.


Dress Code

Professional business attire is compulsory for all participants. One will be expected to dress in suits (if male) or in equally formal clothing (if female).

Male delegates should have a tie tied appropriately.

Unacceptable attire includes sneakers, t-shirts, hoodies, jeans. Female delegates are advised against miniskirts, low-cut blouses, tops that reveal a bare midriff.

Delegates who fail to follow the dress code will receive a warning.




All faculty advisors are expected to discuss this Code of Conduct with their respective delegations, outlining the responsibility of each delegate to adhere to the provided guidelines throughout the conference. Faculty advisors will be held responsible for the conduct and behaviour of their participating delegation at IIS MUN.

Individual delegates are responsible for their actions and need to read carefully the IIS MUN policies beforehand.
